In a confusing—and yet, perhaps not so confusing—turn of events, Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch announced their engagement yesterday. We’ll stay out of the whole Mick Jagger versus Murdoch debate and instead take this opportunity to celebrate how freakin’ awesome Hall is. During the course of her decades-long modeling career, she’s created some truly stunning images, both in the form of professional photo shoots and by mere virtue of existing in the club scene of of the 1970s. Here, a look at some of Hall’s iconic work—and best off-duty shots.
Owning her signature flowing hair—part one—at a party in Paris in 1976.
At a lingerie shoot in London in 1978. (Have you ever seen a more perfectly ’70s lingerie photo?)
Originating (fine, maybe originating—good luck substantiating it) the red-lips-and-yellow-dress combination at a party circa 1978.
In her (very) pre-Murdoch, Mick Jagger days at a party in New York City in 1984.
Owning her signature flowing hair—part two—during a fashion shoot in London in 1988.
Owning her signature flowing hair—part three—and a smoldering stare circa 1995.(Noticing a theme?)
And finally, posing with her equally genetic-lottery-winning daughter Georgia May Jagger at a Perrier event in 2011. Just try to look at this photo without immediately wanting to swipe on some bold red lipstick.
