Getting ready for the Academy Awards can be a stressful ordeal: fittings, makeup, hair, and nails, all while the nerves are setting in. Or if you’re Emma Stone, it can turn into a hotel-room party.
The best supporting actress nominee started getting ready around 2 P.M., and not because she and her team were worried about running late. “It only took about an hour and a half to get her ready,” says Rachel Goodwin, Stone’s makeup artist. The glam squad, which includes hairstylist Mara Roszak and manicurist Ashlie Johnson, has worked together for almost a decade. “We all know each other so well; it’s nice to give ourselves a lot of time to relax and hang out,” explains Goodwin. The group lit candles, listened to music (Haim was a favorite), and sipped some green juice. “We had such a fun day,” Goodwin says. “We knew what we were going to do, so there was no real guesswork today. We could just enjoy ourselves.”
The Birdman actress wowed on the red carpet with glowing skin, soft brown eyes, and peachy cheeks, but the real star of the show was her punchy coral lip. “It would have been safe to go neutral,” says Goodwin. “But no one wears color like she does.” Goodwin lined and filled in Stone’s lips with a coral Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Rouge Candy, blended the color with a lip brush, and then topped it off with__Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Tulip.__ The lips were the perfect contrast to the actress’s chartreuse Elie Saab gown.
When it was time to hit the red carpet, Stone’s crew supplied her with everything she would need—the lipstick, some concealer, and a few Q-tips—and made sure she didn’t forget her iPhone, her tickets, or her ID: “You can’t get into the Oscars without an ID, no matter who you are.”
