During her second Allure cover shoot, Salma Hayek let us in on her anti-aging secrets—and the hair advice she’s received from her seven-year-old daughter.
What’s your biggest skin issue?“The tension in the skin is beginning to give up. And I do use my AM/PM serum. [Hayek has a beauty line called Nuance Salma Hayek.] I swear it works. I’m not lying. But you have to do it every day.”
What was your look in high school? “I had different looks. I was punk for a little bit, later in high school. I’ve explored.”
What would you never wear? “I don’t like things that make me look fatter than I am. In a supershort miniskirt, I feel nervous. I have a butt. You don’t know what’s [showing].”
What’s your hair-care routine like?“When I’m wearing something where there’s a lot going on, it’s better to pull it back or make it straight,” she says. “Or with something very clean and severe, sometimes it’s nice to do straight hair.” If she’s at home, she lets it go wild. “[My husband] François always tries to make me wear the hair curled—if it was up to him, it would always be down, and it would always be curly. He says I look the best like that.” Her seven-year-old daughter is not so sure: “Valentina sometimes says, ‘Mom, you could brush it or something when you come to pick me up at school.'”
