A legend never goes out of style, and Brooke Shields is living proof. The model and actress has had an illustrious career, complete with several iconic pop culture moments we won’t soon forget. One of her most prominent, of course, is that Calvin Klein campaign she did at just 15 years old 1980. The ad, in which Shields says, “What gets between me and my Calvins? Nothing,” turned out to cause quite a controversy, as some thought it suggested that then-teenaged Shields wasn’t wearing underwear. The ad went on to be banned by ABC and CBS New York, according to the New York Times.
Well now, Shields and Calvin Klein are reportedly teaming up again 37 years later to make some more magic. According to Page Six, Shields has been tapped by the brand to star in an upcoming campaign, which we wager will be nothing short of epic. The project was announced by Calvin Klein CEO Steve Shiffman during an event at Cannes Lions. “We are going to be working with Brooke again very soon,” he said.
There is always an appetite for nostalgia, so of course we’re psyched about the possibility of seeing 52-year-old Shields effortlessly slay a campaign once again for Calvin Klein. The actress told the New York Post in 2010 that while she was surprised her 1980 ad became “so legendary,” she wasn’t shocked by the backlash. “The controversy didn’t surprise me because I’d had experience with it since I was 11. The pants came above my belly button — even the one with my shirt open, you didn’t see anything. Compared to the things I’d done before, this was like being in winter gear.”
We can’t wait to see what Calvin Klein and Brooke Shields may have up their sleeves for this go-round.
