Disney Princess Gowns Get the Couture Treatment In Designer’s Drawings

Between the upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast, the Oscar-nominated Moana, and the never-ending popularity of Frozen‘s Elsa and Anna, it’s pretty clear that the Disney princess will never go out of style. Designer Michael Anthony decided to capitalize on this fashionable fact by illustrating couture, runway-ready outfits, inspired by your favorite Disney princesses. And we secretly wish New York Fashion Week was showing upgraded Disney princess gowns this week, because they are seriously GORGEOUS and runway ready.

Michael’s Couture Disney Princesses collection features high-fashion designs for 14 different fabulous princesses: Merida, Mulan, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Tiana, Rapunzel, Elsa, Anna, Belle, Jasmine, and Princess Leia. Yep, Star Wars is Disney now, so she totally counts. Michael even included a photo of the late Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the film series, alongside her couture design.

Some of the drawings are pretty obviously based on their Disney counterpart, like Jasmine, who retained her signature scrunchied hairstyle, and Snow White, whose skirt has become a knee-length poofy dream.

Merida from Brave inspired a simply incredible ensemble that may be our favorite: Michael paired high-waisted plaid pants with a stunning deep green dress that’s open in the front, evoking Merida’s cape.
