Pippa Middleton, Kate Middleton’s sister and the sister-in-law of Prince William, married James Matthews today at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire. While many guests showed up in, er, fascinating fascinators (and perhaps had another outfit stowed away to change into later), all eyes were on Middleton to see what she was wearing — and of course, she didn’t disappoint. She chose a dress designed by British designer Giles Deacon, and looked absolutely radiant as she arrived to the star-studded affair with her father.
The dress features a high neckline, a cap sleeve, and all-over lace detailing, including a long train, which Kate Middleton herself helped arrange right before the ceremony. Giles Deacon told The Sunday Times Style that he was thrilled to work with Middleton to create her wedding gown, saying,”It’s a privilege to show the craftsmanship that my team produces in London and a real testament to Pippa’s support of British fashion.” He also revealed that the silk cotton lace was hand appliquéd so as to create an illusion of the dress being completely seamless.
Deacon also said that the dress has a corseted bodice with draping and a heart-shaped detail in the back. Even with so many details, the gown still somehow looks simple and elegant on Middleton — it’s obvious she and Deacon worked together flawlessly to bring her vision to life. Middleton also wore a long veil, made by Stephen Jones, and ivory Manolo Blahnik shoes to complete her wedding day look. This look was absolutely stunning, and just like the dress Kate wore on her big day, it will surely serve as wedding inspiration for future brides for years to come.
