After what feels like months of social media teasing, Glossier is releasing its most personal product to date today: a fragrance. World, meet Glossier You, a dreamy, “skin-like” scent formulated to give the wearer a sense of familiarity in just a few sensual spritzes.
Glossier You, the millennial-loved beauty brand’s first-ever fragrance, took approximately 36 weeks and expert assist from world-renowned fragrance house Firmenich and perfumers Frank Voelkl and Dora Baghriche to perfect. Meaning? This minimalistic scent’s got depth — and the research to back it up.
Concocted of three major players (a.k.a. the base notes), Glossier You’s central lineup includes: Ambrette, a warm, cozy note; ambrox, a smooth, salty aroma; and lingering musk. The fragrance is creamier than most, thanks to its warm center, but offers a few energizing notes — sparkling pink pepper and earthy iris root — at the top to grab your attention — and keep it.
“I don’t want to be taken to the Swiss Alps or the white sand beaches of Tahiti just by smelling this,” says Emily Weiss, founder of Glossier, of the low-key scent. “I’ve been craving something that whispers instead of shouts. And that’s what You is.”
And housed in a — you guessed it — millennial pink-hued glass bottle, created by designer Laura Yeh after casting and carving too-many-to-count plaster molds to finalize its size and shape, Glossier You is practically begging for a spot on your Top Shelf, er, vanity.
But after just a few spritzes — blindly sprayed to the neck, wrists, and roots — you’ll want to keep it on display. Glossier You instantly “melts” into skin, lingers long after application, and garners a few unexpected compliments throughout the day. So, yeah, you could say we’re into it.
Glossier You eau de parfum is available, starting today, for $60 for 1.7 fl. oz. at glossier.com.
