I’ve had a hair crush on AnnaSophia Robb for quite some time. It started with her hilarious power bob in *Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and * progressed to her big, boisterous curls as the young Carrie Bradshaw on The Carrie Diaries, and on the red carpet, she’s delivered a consistent stream of milkmaid braids, French-twist ponytails, and fluffy topknots. “I like to experiment with hair the same way I like to experiment with fashion,” says Robb. “Like today, I did a big Brigitte Bardot look. When I’m wearing a dress that shows more skin, it’s better to have more hair down.” I stopped by the Mark Hill Salon Professional’s One Year Anniversary Celebration to ask her to spill her other beauty secrets.
Best and worst hair moments?
“My worst hair moment was my high-school homecoming. My mom would stick rollers in my hair because that’s what she did when she was a kid. I thought it was beautiful. It was big hair; it was not sexy. I looked like a poufball.”
How do you care for your hair?
“I don’t style my hair unless it’s for an event or unless I’m working. Because I don’t do anything and let it air-dry naturally, it’s really healthy.”
So are the Carrie Diaries curls yours?
“No, those are Carrie’s. Jenn [the hairstylist on set] would use a heat-protectant spray then take quarter-inch pieces of my hair and stick them in the wand one by one.”
__What’s the one product in your makeup bag you can’t live without?
__”I love OCC cosmetics. I’m wearing their lip stuff right now, but their tinted moisturizers are great—they’re just like foundation, but very light.”
Do you have a favorite scent?
“I love the smell of magnolias. And my favorite fragrance is a toss-up between Roses de Chloé and Ferragamo Signorina.”
