It’s been a month since Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian welcomed a baby girl, and from the looks of things the new mom is ready for a hair change. But instead of going brunette or getting bangs
du jour, the 28-year-old opted for long, blonde locs.
The new look appears very real—it’s pretty sleek with blended edges—but hairstylist Kellon Deryck shared on Instagram that the style is actually a wig. “Lace front wig created at the @kellonderycksalon great for the girls that want the look but don’t feel like sitting down to get there hair braided,” he captioned in a recent photo.

Much to our surprise, the locs, which are extensions created with Marley hair, were done on a glue-less wig. Incorporating a method he calls the “flawless illusion technique,” Deryck was able to give Chyna a realistic-looking hairline by adding and removing strands of hair in the front of the wig.

“The wig is simple to install as long as your natural hair is braided back flat,” he says. “Put a wig cap on and wear the wig [like a] hat secured by pins,” he says. “She can literally take it off every night before bed.”
Deryck says the wig took two days to create (yes, two full days!) because you have to first craft individual braids on the wig and then wrap the Marley hair around each plait. That sounds intense, but the end result is pretty amazing. Installing the completed wig took just 20 minutes (which also includes the time it took Deryck to braid her natural hair underneath so that it fits snuggly on the scalp).
Looking to create your own wig? If you’re going for blonde locs but have dark hair like Chyna, try dying your roots a soft brown color so it’s not too much of a contrast. Now get to work so you’ll have it in time for the weekend.
