Picture this: You hop in the shower, go about your business (maybe break into song a little), wash your hair and bod and get out. You notice the water going down the drain has a reddish tint to it, but hey NBD, it must have been from the Lush bubble bath you just took before. But then, after going about your business for a bit, you go back to the mirror, only to be horrified at what you see: your hair is a completely different color.
The aforementioned is precisely what happened to 44-year-old Kerrie Henderson, a Manchester–based woman who accidentally dyed her hair pink — as in hot, Barbie-pink — after reaching for her 24-year-old daughter’s conditioner in the shower. Little did she know that’s where her daughter, Kiera, was storing her red hair dye.
“I didn’t think it would be that bright as I only had the conditioner on for a matter of minutes,” Henderson told The Sun. Still though, even with it on for mere minutes, she ended up with a softer, uneven version of her daughter’s bright red strands.
After FaceTiming Keira and coming to terms with her new look, she headed to the store the next day and picked up some purple hair dye to cover up the patches. She told The Sun she’s since been trying for almost a year to get her hair back to its original blonde shade, but said that’s not going to happen for a while now. It’s not always an easy transition to go from a bright, pigmented color back to a neutral hue.
“I’m not a huge fan of all the crazy colors. Kiera dyes her hair, so I didn’t really want pink hair myself,” she said.
