While celebrities show off bold hair transformations on the daily, the Internet is freaking out more than normal about the fact that Olivia Wilde cut her hair. It’s not because the actress decided to go for a trendy lob—she did—but about the hashtag she added when she shared her new look on Instagram. She wrote: “Feelin myself apparently. Thanks to the master @harryjoshhair for the chop. #nomoremelaniahair.” Yup, Wilde has gotten rid of what she calls her “Melania hair.”
Wilde’s feelings about the presidential election, and President-elect Donald J. Trump aren’t a secret. She’s taken to social media to post about the Women’s March on Washington, her sadness over the electoral college affirming Trump when Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, and has used the hashtag #notmypresident. So when she cut her “Melania hair,” fans (and those who really aren’t fans) took it as a political statement. It might be. She might be distancing herself from the Trumps in another way—through her look. But there’s also a chance Wilde just wanted a shorter do and she was sick of the long waves that so many women—Melania Trump included—have been wearing for years.

Comments on Wilde’s post are split. Some love the fact that she “doesn’t want to look like FLEOTUS” and others are mad that she’s being “childish and stupid.” A handful of comments are over-the-top, making fun of Wilde and—for some reason—First Lady Michelle Obama’s hair. (OK.) Many, though, just think her new hair looks totally hot and want to know “what curling iron” she used to get those killer waves.
Hairstylist Harry Josh didn’t comment on Wilde’s inspiration behind her cut, but he did reveal how he gave the star sunny highlights that look really beautiful.

Regardless of why Olivia Wilde cut her hair, it really does look great—both the cut and the highlights. And if there’s anyone she didn’t want to resemble, that’s totally her right, too.
