In 2013, the Harry Josh hair-dryer, officially known as the Harry Josh Pro Tools Pro Dryer 2000, was launched by one of the most talented mane men in the game, the inimitable Harry Josh (who counts Gisele Bündchen, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lily Aldridge among his loyal clientele). Most recently he styled Amy Adams’s fiery strands for our April 2016 cover. Of course, as much as we find Harry Josh personally lovely, your dryer has to have a lot more than your name on it to impress this crew of tough critics. The Harry Josh hair-dryer is way more than just a name. It’s handmade in France out of durable matte plastic, boasts airflow up to 80 miles per hour, includes an ion generator that you can switch off and on depending on the finished texture you’re after, comes with a salon-length nine-foot cord, and weighs just over a pound. We could continue singing its praises, or we could just let you know that it won our Best of Beauty honors pretty much since launch: First in 2014, again in 2015, and most recently in 2016.

The dryer costs $300, which isn’t cheap, but from our copious testing, it’s absolutely worth every penny. Our only minor complaint (minor!) was that the dryer was a little tough to get our hands on. Not only was it not the kind of thing that lingers in the beauty closet for more than a hot second, but it was only available for purchase on dermstore.com. But for a limited time starting October 23—that’s this Sunday—the dryer will be sold on target.com for $249.99. On November 6, you’ll find the Harry Josh hair-dryer in 55 Target stores across the country with a promotion that lasts through the end of the year, or while supplies last. (To drill down slightly on the nitty-gritty here, those with a Target REDCard will get five percent off, and Target promises there will be a number of additional special promotions on the dryer throughout holiday season.)
This wider availability is something Josh himself, to put it mildly, is madly excited about. “I’m connected to the world of athletes, supermodels, and beauty editors, and I’ve reached that consumer. My brand is very niche, which I’m proud of,” Josh tells Allure. “But I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been traveling for work or home visiting family, and people tell me they’ve heard of my dryer but they’ve never seen it on the shelf or out of the box. ‘They don’t sell that around here,’ they’d say. That’s why I couldn’t be happier that now we’re going to get it into as many hands as possible.”
. But we couldn’t help but ask if there was any single takeaway secret he could give us on how to make the most of the Harry Josh hair-dryer. His answer? “Use the nozzles!” he says, noting that the dryer comes with two: a wider attachment for bouncy blowouts, and a narrow one for sleeker styles. “I see so many women just throw the nozzles away because they think they makes the process slower. Concentrating the airflow actually speeds things up, and helps you really get that professional-looking result you’re after.” And also? Point the nozzle downward onto the hair you’re drying, not perpendicular to your head. “That’s how you avoid that fuzzy, ripped-up cuticle look,” he says. “Oh, and finish with a cold shot. That really locks a smooth blowout in place.”
