The Huffington Post made the most adorable discovery this week: An 8-year-old boy named Ethan from Florida really wanted to learn how how to do makeup like the looks he saw on his favorite YouTube channels, so his mom took him to the local M.A.C. counter in the mall and had a makeup artist teach him how to do it on himself.
M.A.C. makeup artist Joey Killmeyer, who gave Ethan his lesson, told HuffPost that it was kismet that Ethan and his mom walked into the store. “When Ethan and his mom, Season, came into the store, I felt an immediate connection. He reminded me of myself at that age,” says Killmeyer. “It touched my heart that I was able to help him learn what he wanted to know.”
Ethan’s mother, Season, said she brought him into M.A.C. simply to support him. “Children need to be loved unconditionally, nurtured, and encouraged to discover themselves through their true talents and passions,” she told HuffPost. “By doing so, and receiving the necessary support from parents, they are building confidence and security in who they are. We as parents should be our child’s biggest cheerleader.”
But the most amazing part of the story might be the fact that Killmeyer did half of Ethan’s face, and then the 8-year-old replicated the steps on the other side. [Ed note: It’s taken some of us decades to perfect our cat eyes.] Killmeyer posted the cutest picture of him with Ethan after he finished his lesson:
