Amber Heard, who presented at last night’s Golden Globe Awards, was undoubtedly a standout from the evening, as far as beauty is concerned. The 29-year-old actress showed up wearing a gorgeous floor-length peachy-pink floral gown with matching lipstick and the glowiest skin ever. We got the inside scoop from Melanie Inglessis, the makeup artist behind the look, on what went into it.
“Before applying any makeup, I put the Sisley Black Rose Cream Masque on her skin for 15 minutes,” says Inglessis. “It instantly energizes and brightens the skin, leaving it dewy and plumped.” Inglessis wiped away the mask with a cotton pad soaked with Tammy Fender Bulgarian Rose Water, then massaged Sisley Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration into Heard’s skin. “It’s a highly hydrating moisturizer that leaves the skin healthy and ready for makeup,” says Inglessis. “I made sure to take any excess off with a tissue paper sprayed with the rosewater.”
Next came foundation. Inglessis used Sisley Phyto Teint Expert. But it was the way she applied it that contributed to the dew factor: “I applied the foundation with a wet Beautyblender so it would go on more sheer,” says Inglessis. “I try to use only creams for the skin. I feel it blends onto the skin easier and leaves a glow. I barely use powder.” To brighten under Heard’s eyes, Inglessis mixed two concealers: Benefit Ooh La Lift Instant Under-eye Brightening Boost and Clé De Peau Beauté Concealer in Ivory.
For an even—but not flat or cakey—finish, Inglessis dusted a light layer of finishing powder (Make Up For Ever HD Powder in Translucent) over the T-zone. “I dusted Sisley Phyto-Touche Illusion d’Eté with the Smith Cosmetics #118 Blush/Powder Brush all over her face to give a really natural glow,” says Inglessis. “And to add freshness to the look, I added Kevin Aucoin Creamy Glow in Pravella on just the apples of the cheeks.” Looks like we’ll be making some major changes to our usual skin-prep routine and foundation-application steps.
