At the legendary cabaret Crazy Horse Paris in France, the performers not only stick to the same choreography, they also wear the same exact shade of red lipstick. Allure recently went backstage to meet three of the Crazy Girls who shared some of their beauty secrets, specifically their go-to eye-makeup tips. “We all do our eyes so differently,” says Candy St. Louis. When the dancer gets ready for a performance, she keeps one direction in mind: “When you’re little, you learn to color in the lines, but not here,” she says as she applies her red lipstick. “You’ve got to go outside.”
Dancer Mika Do prefers to use green eyeshadow for her stage look. For the past eight years, she’s been brushing a mossy shade into her creases for every performance. “For me, it’s always green, always the same makeup,” she explains. Mika Do draws on thick-winged liner with a black gel formula and an angled brush to “have eyes like a cat.” This is one of the many eye-opening tricks she took away from performing with transformistes (or drag queens) when she was younger. She also sweeps on black eye shadow just below the green to help her eyes look wider, and then she takes a damp cotton swab and wipes away any shadow that may have gotten on the center of her lid. The last step creates the perfect cut-crease look that you see all over Instagram. Yup, the performers at Crazy Horse Paris love cut creases, too.
You can see the Crazy Girls get ready for a performance and watch their tips in action in the video above.
