Essie Starry Starry Night Is Back and We’re Giving Away 10

It’s been 35 years since Essie Weingarten launched her eponymous nail-polish line. And this January, she’s celebrating the milestone by bringing back six discontinued shades in a limited-edition collection called Retro Revival. And the most exciting bottle coming back from the beauty graveyard is—drumroll please—Starry Starry Night (SSN if you’re in the know).

The sparkly navy polish has been off shelves for years and so mourned by polish fanatics that it’s sparked hundreds of online dupe suggestions and even a few budget-shattering eBay auctions. One of the reasons this shade is so sought-after is that it’s incredibly buildable. One coat is enough to cover nails in an opaque deep blue with plenty of silver sparkle. But add a second (or dare we say, a third) and the layers of fine shimmer have so much dimension that it looks almost cosmic. Seriously, check out the photo above.

The five other discontinued polishes in the collection include Life of the Party, a pearlescent burgundy from 2002;Sequin Sash, a sheer bronze from 2005;Cabana Boy, a silvery white also from 2005;Bikini With a Martini, a frosty pink from 2006; and__ Birthday Suit__, a soft nude from 1981 (one of Essie’s original 12 shades). But Starry Starry Night is the one that has us marking our calendars for the occasion. Seriously, we’ve been waiting for this day! To celebrate, we rounded up some fun facts about the much-loved shade; and we also set aside ten sets of the Retro Revival collection just for Allure readers. Head to on January 12, 2016, from 3:00 to 3:59 p.m. ET to enter for your chance to win one of ten.
