With Art Basel just one month away, let us take a moment to beg the question, “What is art?”
Kidding! We’d be here forever.
That said, I’m fully prepared to annoy classicists by saying that I consider my new E.L.F. polishes thought-provoking objets d’art. You see, they’re like little contemporary sculptures all by themselves. Their trompe l’oeil dripping paint effect is so clever and tactile, I line the bottles on my dresser, just so I can stare at them.
Once I finally tried the polish. I was pleased to find out that it dried in a flash—to a perfectly glossy finish. Plus, it has vitamin E, which is great for people with weak nails (like me). And it comes in a wide palette of splashy summery colors. (My favorite: Bubble Gum Pink.)
But perhaps the most progressive aspect about it is its price: At $1, it’s entirely surreal.
