It’s been a rough few months for fans of Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kits. First Jeffree Star called the brand out for issues with the brushes. Then came the news that the ingredients in the lip colors were shockingly similar to the much cheaper cult ColourPop liquid lipsticks. Now a whole new problem has emerged for the lip color company, and the Better Business Bureau is involved.
The trouble is that after hovering over their keyboards for hours to get their Lip Kit before thousands of other fans (not to mention shelling out the $15-$30 each shade costs), many customers have received an iconic drip-patterned box only to find there’s nothing inside. Naturally, many of those dissatisfied customers have been complaining to the BBB about the missing items.
According to TMZ, the BBB believes that the issue stems from the eye-catching boxes in which the Lip Kits are shipped. The BBB says the “highly recognizable” boxes (some of which are selling for up to $100 on eBay) make it easy for criminals to figure out what’s inside and snag the goods while they’re in transit—or right off customers’ doorsteps.
The good news is that the Kylie team is already on top of things, assuring everyone that they are in the process of switching to more anonymous packaging to dissuade thieves. In the meantime, if you’re one of the lucky few who’ve already ordered a Lip Kit, keep your fingers crossed.
The new version of the Lip Kit shipping box is already appearing on doorsteps. The old boxes had the brand’s iconic drip effect on the outside; that image will now grace the inside of the box, while the outside will appear plain black.
