Giambattista Valli is a designer loved by celebrities and international socialites (who call themselves “Valli Girls”) for his really feminine—and often floral—party dresses. He’s also someone who is about to make history with his first M.A.C. lipstick collaboration.
Valli’s collection of five matte lipsticks—a light, Barbie pink (Bianca B); a classic red (Charlotte); a bright coral (Margherita); a punchy fuchsia (Tats); and a vampy, dark mauve (Eugenie)—will come with color-coated tubes that match the shades inside. This cool packaging is a first for M.A.C., and though it’s strange to see M.A.C. ditch its classic black tubes, these new ones look like a cross between flowers and candy, and there’s nothing wrong with that. (Plus, as Valli told Allure, they make digging through your makeup bag for the right shade way less annoying.)
“When you carry two or three in your bag, you can get the color right away without checking inside of the thing,” says Valli, who believes that a woman can completely transform her wardrobe just by swiping on lipstick. “I love when a woman jumps out of the shower, puts on lipstick, and walks out with wet hair.”
We like the way this man thinks. The collection will be available July 9—a day we think M.A.C. employees should prepare for a high-heeled yet well-mannered stampede to their counters.
