Palettes with about a dozen colorful shades are fun and all, but let’s be real, they don’t make sense for travel. They’re clunky and take up too much valuable real estate in your carry-on. Huda Beauty is about to drop a solution: Come November 1, you’ll be able to throw a Huda Beauty palette in your makeup bag without a second thought because it’ll only take up half as much space as the Rose Gold palette. How? Huda Kattan just announced brand-new mini eye shadow palettes on her Snapchat story.
Unlike her popular palettes that monopolize her Instafeed, the mini Obsessions palettes only come with nine shadows. (The standard-sized palettes are complete with 18 hues.) The eye shadow pans are still the same size, but they’re in a space-saving, compact case. The micro palette even has a decent-sized mirror built in.
With half as many shades in the new Huda Beauty palettes, cutting down to the essentials is key for the Obsessions palettes. Kattan came up with four color combos to choose from: Smokey, Electric, Mauve, and Warm Browns. All have a mix of matte and metallic shadows with the same intensely pigmented formulas as the full-sized palettes.
Based on the names of the palettes, you could probably guess what’s inside. Smokey obviously comes with shades suited for creating a sultry smoky eye look like charcoal black, taupe, silver, and champagne. Electric, on the other hand, is like the anti-Naked palette. Inside, you’ll find bold shadows in every shadow of the rainbow including yellow and candy apple red.
Kattan said Mauve is the most popular around the office. My guess is because it looks like a mini version of the Rose Gold palette. Huda Beauty basically cut out the more vibrant shades that people often don’t know what to do with and left the easy-to-use basics. Last but not least, Warm Browns echoes a lot of the palettes happening right now. It’s all about terracottas, reds, and bronzes. It has a similar vibe to the transition and base shades in the Desert Dusk Palette.
The best part of Huda Beauty’s upcoming mini palettes, though? They’re pretty damn affordable. The full-sized palettes ring up at $65. The mini ones, though, are more than 50 percent off that price. Starting November 1, you’ll be able to shop them for $27 each on cultbeauty.co.uk. They’ll be available on shophudabeauty.com on November 2.
