For months, Jerrod Blandino has been teasing the new Too Faced Love Light Highlighter on his personal Instagram, mesmerizing us with its oh-so-pretty, heart-shaped packaging. Thankfully, the wait is (almost) over: The highlighter is finally launching this Thursday.
In case you have no idea what we’re talking about, I’ll get you up to speed. Too Faced is coming out with brand-new powdered highlighters in metallic compacts. The highlighter, which has a super pretty diamond-like design, just so happens to match the color of the packaging (metallic fans, go wild). As for the shades, there’s a silver called You Light Up My Life, a gold dubbed Blinded by the Light, and an Allure editor-favorite named Ray of Light (a rose-gold).
All of us were excited to see what the new shimmery shades would look on each of our skin tones. TBH I’ve been testing out You Light Up My Life for about a week now, and I was able to assure everyone that the silver wouldn’t make anyone look like the Tin Man. Instead, the highlighter, like the two other shades, gives the high points of the face a natural glow that doesn’t look as blinding as the names suggest. All of the shades are incredibly subtle with a hint of shimmer. If you want to up the intensity, you can apply a cream highlighter like the Ciate Dewy Stix before brushing on the powder. I tried it out with the rose gold shade, and it looked incredible. I’m definitely going to incorporate that duo into my beauty routine ASAP.
Since they aren’t insanely pigmented like the highlighters in the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits, Too Faced highlighters have a sheerer base that flatters a variety of complexions.
