Trying on makeup before you buy it can be a godsend. Though a one-time trial doesn’t exactly make you privy to the long-term effects of makeup, like whether a product may dry your skin out over time or make you break out, it does help you see whether a shade is a perfect match or… not so much.
Another godsend in the beauty industry is shopping at home from the comfort of your couch and making all your purchases online from a website or an app — they even store your faves so you can reorder at the touch of a button. However, while shopping from home, sometimes what shows up to our doorstep may not be the right shade or formula. We pick and choose our conveniences — until now. Sephora is looking to change that with an addition to their app they’re calling “Swatch Me,” which allows you to swatch nearly every single eyeshadow palette the retailer sells.
The Swatch Me feature appears in the Virtual Artist section of the app. When you’re in the eyeshadow option of the tool, all you have to do is swipe up and the Swatch Me feature appears. Though the swatches appear slightly more opaque than regular swatches as shown in some pictures shared by a Bustle editor who tried the feature already, it looks like they may give you a great idea of what the colors will look like on your particular skin tone before you buy. The feature has just been launched on the app for Android users already, but iPhone users will have the feature available to them on August 28.
