It was just a few months ago (April to be exact) when the Internet and just about anyone who hoards foundations the way we do was losing it over The Ordinary’s hotly-anticipated serum foundation. The inclusive shade range coupled with the cool $6 price tag — not to mention its streamlined, science-inspired packaging — made it a hot commodity, and it quickly racked up a waiting list longer than your grandmother’s grocery list. A 25,000-person waiting list, in fact.
If you’re one of the lucky ones to have gotten your hands on the foundation, then you know firsthand it did not disappoint. (See our beauty editor prove it’s worth the hype!) Though today we’re not here to discuss the old, but rather the new. That’s right, folks, the budget-friendly skin-meets-makeup brand that won over our hearts is back with a brand-new foundation — and well, dare I say it’s looking like it could give the first a real run for its money?
Enter the “Watercolours,” which for the record, is all we know regarding the foundation’s actual name as of now. What we do know for sure is this: It’s supposed to be thinner than actual water itself (say what?!), both oil and silicone-free, have an equally impressive shade range as its predecessor, and it’s launching THIS DECEMBER.

The brand revealed the aforementioned information in an Instagram announcement, adding, “Everyone tells us December is the worst time to launch anything which is perfect because maybe we would for once not have any stock issues at launch .”
What’s more, the video introducing the product looks like one of those highly-mesmerizing, can’t-tear-your-eyes-away type of commercials, like one you might see for brownies or some sort of indulgent milkshake from Coldstone. This is somehow even better, though, seeing as it’s a pool of skin-perfecting liquid that’s coming to grace our complexions with a feather-light feel.
While we don’t know the exact price or officially launch date just yet, it’s safe to say this foundation will be accessible to the masses — just one of many things we adore about The Ordinary. Now be sure to mark your calendar, because somehow December is just around the corner.
