Just when we thought we’ve seen every sort of wacky, weird, and straight-up strange beauty hack to ever live on the Internet (i.e. marshmallow makeup sponges, broken hanger cut crease tools etc.), along comes something so silly yet so goddamn innovative we have to stop everything and give credit where credit is due.
Enter in, Lauren, a college student with a lofty goal to keep her face beat intact and on point in the shower — without causing any smudges, smears, or added mess. After a long day, the certified genius (which is what we’re now we’re calling her) decided she was going to go out but still needed to wash her hair, reports Buzzfeed. The problem? She didn’t have the energy or patience to remove her flawlessly applied full face of makeup. Luckily, she had a solution: To wear goggles, as in a deep-diving face mask, which covered all of her eye makeup and more, into the shower. (Yeah, like we said, brilliant.)
Soon after rinsing her hair, she found her makeup had stayed firmly in place, and then decided to share the hack on her Tumblr page, which went viral practically overnight, she told Buzzfeed. “Like, the next morning after posting it I had like 5,000 notes,” she said. “Then the next week I had 22,000 notes, and now I have almost 100,000 on the original post.”
Many of the comments she received were inquiring why she didn’t just use dry shampoo and skip the shower altogether, but according to the college student, dry shampoo is a bit tricky when you’ve got a perm. Beyond that, she simply chose to shower. “Listen, if you think I’m gonna squeeze my fat ass head between a faucet and a drain and deny myself of a wonderful, full-body experience, you’re dead wrong,” she said in response. “My hair is greasy and by the end of the day I had my makeup on and I wanted to go out with my friends, but I’d be dead before I wasted another pair of lashes and 45 minutes blending eyeshadow.”
Same, Lauren. Same. Here’s to you and your ingenuity. We applaud you.
