This season has provided us with no shortage of bewitchingly good Halloween makeup tutorials. We’ve seen glitter masks, melting makeup, mermaid scales, and spooky uses for your black liner pen that will give you life. We’re tempted to ditch costumes entirely and let our beauty game do all the talking, especially now that Urban Decay has delivered a killer unicorn makeup tutorial.
This week, the beauty gurus at Urban Decay posted a Unicorn Magic tutorial on Facebook making a case that “mermaids are out and unicorns are in.” In the vid, artists Kristen Leanne and Amanda Rodriguez show off two different unicorn looks. (Dreams really do come true!)
The first look is pretty classic unicorn, with lots of pearlescent shimmer, pastel stars, and illuminating face powder. The second look from Urban Decay’s artist in residence Amanda Rodriguez is superpsychedelic—a mix of a hippie vibe, glitter, and unicorn magic—with fuchsia brows, rainbow lids, and lots of stars. For Rodriguez’s take, she uses Urban Decay’s soon-to-be-released rainbow-hued Full Spectrum eye-shadow palette for her contour colors. Wild!
The unicorn looks are pretty crazy, but the bold Full Spectrum palette can actually be used for tamer, pro makeup artist-approved everyday looks (like the red-tinged smoky-eye that is so hot right now), too.
