Between the custom-coverage drops and formulas made for specific skin types (dry, combination, et cetera), there are a lot of foundation options on the market. Which means deciding on full-face makeup that’s right for your skin — and your skin’s needs — can be tricky. But luckily, the Internet is packed with great recommendations (like this option with a 25,000-person waiting list). Just ask anyone on Reddit; users will give you more than enough product recommendations to last a lifetime.
In the AsianBeauty forum, Reddit user itsTAEMIN recently shared her review of a Singaporean tinted moisturizer, and let me just say, I’d give anything to get my hands on the stuff. The colored cream in question is the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery BB SPF 50+ (yes, apparently Bioré makes tinted face products outside of the U.S. — who knew?), and it’s a sheer, lightweight moisturizer with a slight tint and a hint of shimmer. It’s also packed with skin-plumping hyaluronic acid and sun protection (SPF 50).
“I wore it out and I highlighted the little imperfections I didn’t even know I had; though that may be because I was looking very closely in the mirror haha,” she wrote. “But from far away it looked fine. It also seemed to control my oil well as I didn’t get shiny by the end of the day. However the sides of my nose and my forehead started to get cakey.”
Although itsTAEMIN says the formula was a little too sheer for her liking, based on her description, I have a feeling I’d wear the shit out of this BB cream. As I’ve written before, I’m big on BBs (foundations are too heavy for my sensitive skin), so lightweight coverage — that still allows my skin to breathe — is my ideal coverup. And the fact that the formula is illuminating just makes it all the more better, as it’s basically one less step in my makeup routine. Basically, Reddit user itsTAEMIN just sold this beauty editor on a product. (See how it looks on her, below.)
Unfortunately, though, the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery BB SPF 50+ isn’t readily available. While it’s currently sold on Amazon.com for $19.49 a tube, I can’t actually recommend adding this to your skin-care stash. Because it’s sold through a third-party seller — and not directly from Amazon or the brand’s mother company, Kao — I’m skeptical of its manufacture and sell-by date. (You never know with these things unless you can read the labels IRL.) Which means your (and my, TBH) best bet in adding this tinted moisturizer to your routine is to actually book a round-trip ticket to Asia in order to scoop up a sample in person. Sounds easy enough….
