If you’ve been paying attention anything on Instagram beyond the new icon and the sneaky algorithm changes the last few days, you may have noticed the beauty-selfie trend that’s been taking over: bubble masks. They’re not totally new, but since you don’t want to be the last one plastering your feed with a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man–style selfie, we’ve pulled together a list of our favorite foaming beautifiers to keep you on the cutting edge.
Like most of our favorite mask trends in recent years, bubble masks first gained popularity in Korea. Though some versions have been around in the U.S. for a while now (Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Foaming Mask has been part of the spa’s signature Triple Oxygen Treatment for years), more and more bubble masks have been popping up stateside. The concept behind bubble masks is fairly simple: The fizzing, Pop Rocks–esque action is meant to infuse the skin with oxygen and help the mask’s ingredients penetrate. Also, it looks really cool.
