The country may be divided on where it stands with Ivanka Trump—many have boycotted her eponymous brand because of her relationship to her father, President Donald Trump, while others have helped to inflate it—but apparently, the people of China are big fans of the First Daughter. Well, her appearance, that is.
Ever since the presidential election, there’s been an influx of Ivanka Trump–inspired plastic surgery in China, reports The Washington Post. In fact, right before the Trump family moved into the White House, a company in Foshan, China, registered the name Foshan Yiwanka Medical Management for a new cosmetic surgery office. (This is important because the transliteration of Ivanka is “Yiwanka.”)
“Young women in China like to change their looks to copy film stars’ eyes, noses, and lips,” Li Yunxing, a human resources manager at Foshan Yiwanka Medical Management, told The Washington Post. “No doubt young women here want Ivanka’s big eyes, her pretty nose and lips, and her flawless figure. Her facial features, disposition, and appearance are perfect—no matter whether they are judged by the beauty standards of the East or the West.”
While there haven’t been any recorded reports of Ivanka Trump–inspired cosmetic enhancements Stateside, New York City–based plastic surgeon Norman Rowe says he’s seen a number of clients request procedures to create Westernized-looking features. “I don’t see too many patients, including Asian clients, asking for cosmetic procedure to make them appear like a celebrity—except for patients who want noses like Megan Fox or lips like Khloé Kardashian, for example,” Rowe tells Allure. “I do have Asian patients who see me for the creation of Westernized eyelids, though. This is a very popular procedure that is requested.”

Business-wise—at least in the U.S.—Ivanka Trump’s namesake brand continues to dwindle. Earlier this week, the Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry Collection shuttered, according to Vanity Fair, while a number of retailers—Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Belk—continue to drop the fashion line from its shelves. Whether the rest of the world will follow suit is up in the air, but based on the First Daughter’s success in China—where a whopping 65 applications have been submitted to trademark the name Ivanka for use on products such as weight-loss supplements and cosmetics in the country—it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
