One of the little conundrums of a sheet mask is that your lips are left out all alone in the wide open air, not getting a drop of that magical hydration. And we all know how serious a problem dry lips can be.
Enter Lip Patches. People on Reddit are calling them “sheet masks for lips,” and we must say they look equally impressive and scary. But hey, if Lady Gaga seems to swear by them, they must do something, right?
Charlotte Cho, a cofounder of the Korean beauty website Soko Glam, told me that the TonyMoly Kiss Kiss Lovely Lip Patch (shown above) is a steady seller. “There is nothing else quite like it in the U.S. beauty market,” she says. Her website advises users to apply the hydrogel mask after exfoliating their lips and keep it on for 20 minutes. According to Cho, the key ingredient in the patch is glycerin. “It’s a natural humectant that helps bind moisture to the skin and also helps retain it.” There is one catch: You need to be lying down to keep the mask on. “I would recommend staying relatively still since the mask can easily fall off,” she says. When Allure asked cosmetic chemist Ni’kita Wilson what she thought about this lip mask’s touted benefits, she offered this verdict: “It’s a good, but temporary, fix for dryness and flaking.”

What do you think? Would you use lip patches?
