The Ultimate Beauty Destination: NYC’s Le Parker Meridien

Yesterday I explored the bowels of Midtown’s Le Parker Meridien hotel and discovered an underground beauty wonderland. My tour started with a shot of Moonshine (yes, I’m serious and it happened around 9A.M.). Why you might ask? Well, upon entering the hotel’s brand new spa—Moonshine (opening this Monday!)—that’s what you’re asked to do.

I’ve been to many spas in my years as a beauty editor, but this one is unlike any I’ve visited before. Picture mud walls, rustic leather furniture, cozy fur throws, a pot belly stove, Turkish rugs, lanterns, Aztec drawings, and tons of candles. Unlike the decor, however, the treatment menu is surprisingly pared-down: massages and facials. Just outside Moonshine I found a Drybar, the recently opened L.A.-based blowdry chain, and Ten Over Ten, a super-cool nail spa that’s set to open in April. Hungry? The Petit Blue Dog Café is opening, too, serving up pressed juices (I tried Spring Awakening, a pear, pineapple, apple, and mint juice and it was delish), smoothies, and salad. So as if the enormous gym (Gravity Fitness) and Norma’s infamous pancakes weren’t reason enough to swing by the hotel, I’ll be hitting it up for all my beauty needs, too.
