Refinery29 teamed up with Social Context Labs to find out the most popular beauty companies around the globe, as well as each company’s most popular products. (How else will we know what the next big Korean product will be?)
Estée Lauder scored the top spot, with the United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, United States, and more showing love for the brand. It hit the top five in more than ten other countries. Hey, when something works, it works, right?
Some surprises on the list: Nivea clocked in at number two, with countries including Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands, Argentina, and more raving about the body lotions and creams.
It’s not surprising to see Shiseido on the list at number three. The sunscreen was the most talked-about item from the Japanese company.
Rounding out the rest of the list are Lancôme, L’Oréal, Neutrogena, La Roche-Posay, Clarins, Pond’s, and Clinique. But there are brands on there that you may not have heard of yet, so now’s your chance to check them out. Sweden’s Luna facial brush (by Foreo) tied for number nine with Clinique. Italy’s Borghese tied for tenth place with South Korea’s LG (The History of Whoo is the top product) and Indonesia’s Citra.
There’s something comforting in knowing our beauty choices are the same around the world. Day cream, sunscreen, body lotion, cleansers, serums and anti-aging products keep the world beautiful. And that’s no small thing.
